Internet Parts Ordering (IPO)

Internet Parts Ordering (IPO) is an industry standard for the messages and information flow required to locate, inquire about availability and order product online. IPO uses Web service technologies to enable integration between trading partners without the complexity and expense of point-to-point legacy integration.

IPO version 2.0, released in April 2010, is a significant departure from earlier versions of IPO. The XML constructs of the Open Applications Group (OAG) were deprecated from version 2.0, reducing the amount of code required to marshal and parse V2 documents by as much as 25%. The XML metadata in IPO version 2.0 has been fully aligned with other industry standards such as ACES and PIES, simplifying IT integration and providing a high level of re-use. Version 2.0 is exhaustively tested and documented ensuring shorter development cycles and proven results.

The documentation packet for IPO version 2.0 (Build Release 1) includes the Technical and the Functional implementation guides, the XML schema definitions, sample XML from over 25 test scenario and a detailed visual representation of the complex data types

The documentation packet for IPO version 1.2.1 includes the Technical and Functional Implementation guides and the OAG XML schema definitions. The documentation of version 1.2.1 is delivered as a Set-up executable file that will install the files in the required structure on your local computer. Version 1.2.1 messages are not compatible with those of version 2.0
